Redwood Regional Park/Skyline Gate: There are a multitude of running options from this trailhead including the Eastridge Trail, Westridge Trail, and the Stream Trail.
From Berkeley/Oakland North: Take Hwy 13 south and exit at Park Blvd. Turn left at the end of the off-ramp and proceed over the freeway. Turn left at the next stoplight onto Mountain Blvd. Turn right onto Snake Rd, two stoplights later. The road will split into two about 1/4 mile later, stay to the right which is Shepherd Canyon Rd. Follow Shepherd Canyon to the top where it intersects with Skyline Blvd. Turn right onto Skyline. The Skyline Gate Staging area will be on your left about 1/2 mile later.
From Oakland South/San Leandro: Take Hwy 13 North and exit at Park Blvd. Turn left at the end of the off-ramp onto Mountain Blvd. After 3 stoplights turn right onto Snake Rd. The road will split into two about 1/4 mile later, stay to the right which is Shepherd Canyon Rd. Follow Shepherd Canyon to the top where it intersects with Skyline Blvd. Turn right onto Skyline. The Skyline Gate Staging area will be on your left about 1/2 mile later.
Anthony Chabot Regional Park: Here you can access the Goldenrod Trail and take it all the way to Lake Chabot.
From Berkeley/Oakland: Take Hwy 580 or Hwy 13 south. After 580 and 13 connect, take the Keller Ave exit. Turn left onto Keller at the stop sign and follow Keller up to the top of the hill for about 1.5 miles where it ends at Skyline Boulevard. Turn left onto Skyline, then an immediate right into the stables parking lot.
From San Leandro: Take Hwy 580 toward Oakland and exit at Keller. Turn left at the end of the off-ramp onto Mountain, then turn right at the next stop sign onto Keller. Follow Keller up to the top of the hill for about 1.5 miles where it ends at Skyline Boulevard. Turn left onto Skyline, then an immediate right into the stables parking lot.
Strawberry Canyon Fire Trail: This trail will take you up to Grizzly Peak Drive and includes an extremely steep section called “the connector.” (It’s OK to walk that part)
From TRANSPORTS: Go north on College Ave. Turn right onto Dwight Way, go up the hill and turn left onto Prospect. Continue around the stadium and turn right onto Centennial Drive. The staging area is approximate a half mile up Centennial, just past the Strawberry Canyon Pool/Haas clubhouse.
Nimtz Trail/Inspiration Point: – 4 mile paved bike/run path with a soft dirt shoulder.
From Berkeley: Take Spruce north to where it intersects with Grizzly Peak and Wildcat Canyon Rd. Go straight through the intersection onto Wildcat Canyon Rd. After about 3 miles, Inspiration Point parking lot will be on your left.
From TRANSPORTS: Take College Avenue north 1/2 block and turn right onto Claremont Avneue. Take Claremont Avenue behind the Claremont Resort to the stop sign the top of the hill. Turn left onto Grizzly Peak Blvd. You will go uphill for another mile or so, and the road will flatten out at the Steam Trains. 300 meters after the Steam Trains, turn Right onto South Park Drive. At the stop sign at the bottom of the hill, turn right onto Wildcat Canyon. After about a mile, Inspiration Point parking lot will be on your left.
Tilden Park/Wildcat Creek Trail – Rolling hills through scenic Tilden Park.
From TRANSPORTS: Take College Avenue toward UC Berkelely. Turn left on Bancroft Way. Turn right on Fulton Street and continue on Oxford Street. Turn right on Rose Street and then left onto Spruce Street, continue to where it intersects with Grizzly Peak and Wildcat Canyon Rd. Go through the intersection and take an immediate left down Canyon Rd. Canyon goes very steeply downhill for about 1/4 mle. At the stop-sign at the bottom, turn left. Park at The Little Farm at the end of the parking lot.
Briones Resevoir/Bear Creek Trail –Single track trail with rolling hills. EBMUD permit required!!
Take Hwy 24 east through the Caldecott Tunnel. Take the 3rd exit after the tunnel for Downtown Orinda. At the end of the off ramp, turn left onto San Pablo Dam Road. After about 3 miles, turn right onto Bear Creek Road. After about a mile or so, turn left into the Briones Overlook Staging Area. This turn-off is easy to miss, so drive carefully.
Berkeley Marina: Great views of the bay on this flat running route.
From Hwy 80 or Hwy 580 take the University Avenue exit and head west to the Marina parking area.
Contra Costa Canal Trail - Ironhorse Trail: These 2 paved trails intersect just behind Walden Park in Walnut Creek and cover miles and miles of Contra Costa County.
Take Hwy 24 east through the Caldecott Tunnel. Upon reaching Walnut Creek, take Hwy 680 North. Take the Treat Blvd exit. Turn right onto Treat Blvd. Turn right onto Oak Road. Arrive at Walden Park parking lot in about .3 miles.
Lafayette/Moraga Trail - This paved trail will take you all the way to Moraga’s St. Mary’s College and beyond.
Take Hwy 24 east through the Caldecott Tunnel. Take the Pleasant Hill Road South exit. Continue on Pleasant Hill Road. Turn right at Olympic Blvd and immediately arrive at the Lafayette/Moraga Trail Staging Area/Parking Lot.
Lake Merritt: Approximately 3.1 miles around the lake. Flat course.
